Born and raised in Kansas I have been involved in flying since I was 14 years old. As a cadet in the civil air patrol in Kansas and with a father who was a private pilot I developed a love for flying at a very early age. At the age of 15 I was able to work my way to my private rating working at the local FBO in Lawrence Kansas. I was very lucky to have the owner of the FBO take an interest in helping me work my way in trade for lessons and flight time.

This experience has made a lasting impression on me as I am committed to helping my students achieve their goals in any way I can. As I grew so did my flying experiences to include a four years of service in The Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, The 7th Special Forces Group, and the Army Parachute Team With over 1500 free fall parachute jumps to include several HALO jumps from 40,000 feet I experienced a wide verity of military and civilian aircraft, from the famous DC 3 to the C5 A as jump platforms. I continued flying with my private rating for the next 25 years and owned several airplanes in partnership and was involved in flying clubs until raising a family which forced a 10 year slow down of my flying. As my family grew and I became single I discovered Kerrville in 2000 and fell in love with the area and my many new friends here. In 2003 I choose to make flying and teaching my full time job. With 700 plus hours I went to a small flight school in Alabama and attained my instrument, commercial, Multi-engine, CFI, and CFII ratings. I returned to Kerrville determined to make a living flying. For a year I shared a rental airplane with several other instructors who work independently out of Kerrville Aviation’s terminal. I owe a lot of thanks to my good friend Joe Kennedy and his staff for the support they have all given me. In 2005 I took the plunge and made Learn 2 Fly a reality.

Starting in 2006 a full time flight school was established on the Kerrville airport complete with dedicated areas for instruction.

Our name is our commitment to you. We want you to learn 2 fly!
